“My involvement with Off The Wall began when I first heard about the relaunch early in 2008. People were needed to contribute to and compile the magazine; I’d enjoyed creative writing in the past, although I hadn’t written anything for nearly ten years, so I decided to give it a try, despite my initial nervousness. My first assignment was to cover Bath’s 2008 Half Marathon. Not having any knowledge of or even interest in the event, I had my doubts about my ability to do this, but I was pleased with the outcome. I was later asked to do a regular book review column; as I love reading and belong to DHI’s Book Club, I took this on willingly. After trying my hand at writing a few ‘What’s Your Beef?’ articles, I felt a growing need to move on to longer and more serious articles on topics which meant something to me. Writing for OTW and being part of its editorial team has given me a tremendous satisfaction at being creative again (and seeing my name in print!), as well as a good feeling at being part of a team and having a sense of purpose in my daily life. I am very proud of OTW and thank DHI for giving me the opportunity to be a part of it”.
