“To cut a long story short, I have had addiction problems on and off for 20 years or more. After wandering around the world half-heartedly trying to get away from my problems I after a long time realised that the problem wasn’t drugs, the problem was me! I came in contact with DHI in Swindon as a last resort really, as I realised that I wasn’t man enough to deal with the problem myself. After 7 months of treatment at Gloucester House in Highworth Swindon, the staff there spotted a skill I had but never knew. It was discovered by staff that I was a half-decent hack writer. Writing now has become an outlet and it really gives me a sense of freedom I cannot experience in the real world, as a matter of fact, I can put the world to rights through this medium. Off the wall magazine really has been a gift, where else can a shmuck like me get his work printed and published? The only thing stopping me now is myself and the world of PC gone mad. This has become a great outlet for me to experiment with different writing styles, honing my skills and increasing my confidence in the hope that one day I can become a professional writer”.
