Groups and Brief Therapies
For those who have decided they wish to address problem drug or alcohol use, DHI delivers interventions which focus on the present and motivate people to use the skills they already have to achieve their goals and make meaningful changes in their lives.
Through group work and one to one sessions we encourage people to develop their problem solving and coping skills by using methods such as Brief Solution Focussed Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
Structured Day Care
12 week group work programmes designed to compliment the process of change around substance misuse and related issues. These are facilitated by experienced group workers and all groups are non-confrontational, non-judgemental with an emphasis on the here and now. The groups focus on strengths and abilities rather than on problems or labels.
Brief Interventions
Brief 1-1 therapy (6-12 sessions): An opportunity to work with a counsellor to explore the role that substance use plays in a person's life. Individuals will be assisted to reach decisions, develop commitment and supported to prevent slips and setbacks.
Workshops
3 session workshops exploring topics associated with recovery from drugs or alcohol. These include Managing Stress, Becoming Assertive, Managing Emotions and Developing Self-Esteem.
