Housing and Support

Private Rented Access Scheme
Money for a deposit and/or rent in advance is usually necessary to move into a private rented property. DHI run a scheme which lends homeless clients the money to start a new tenancy. Loans are repaid at an affordable rate and within a reasonable timescale. Floating support workers also offer support and advice during those crucial first months setting up home, for example helping clients to claim Housing Benefit.

Floating Support Services
Our Floating Support service provides a combination of practical and emotional support. The support is provided with the aim of improving life skills so that clients are able to live independently and can include basic advice on housing, benefits and drugs and alcohol as well as signposting and referring to specialist agencies.

On entry to any of these services we will discuss with you what support we can offer to address your needs and agree a tailored support plan with you. You are entitled to have a family member, carer or advocate with you at these meetings.

Supported Housing
In partnership with Somer Community Housing Trust and Knightstone Housing, DHI run two supported housing projects in the centre of Bath. These shared "dry" houses provide a safe and supportive environment for clients whose lives have been disrupted through problematic substance use who are now committed to an abstinent lifestyle. Residents have their own room with shared facilities.

Aspire
Aspire operates a rapid response service so that anyone referred to DHI in Bath for housing related support is able to access support quickly and efficiently.
