Brokerage and Information Service
To access this service, you must be eligible for funding from social services. If you are eligible, then please ask your social worker for more information or a referral to a Support Broker.
This service assists people who are vulnerable (i.e. as a result of a learning or physical disability, mental health problem, older age ) who wish to plan and organise the support they need using their assigned budget. This means that a broker will help you to draw up a support plan to meet your needs and identify and access services and support as required.
The service works in the same way that any other brokerage service does (e.g. an insurance or holiday broker) in that it will help match your needs and preferences against the available options, except that it is truly independent and receives no payment from the organisations you choose to support you.
Support can come from a wide variety of sources, including families and carers, a personal assistant, the community or from traditional services in the care system.
The aim of the service is to promote maximum independence for people
