Drug and Alcohol
Accessing our services
DHI South Gloucestershire takes all the referrals for people with drug and alcohol problems throughout the county. Referrals can be made directly from the person themselves, or from GPs or other statutory and voluntary agencies.
When you ring the main office at Warmley, you will speak to one of our Triage Support Co-ordinators. Their job is to take all the basic details of the person who is being referred, including which substances they are currently using and/or are experiencing problems with. They will also ask if the person is being prescribed medication by their GP and about any other professionals that are involved.
If the referral is not being made by the person themselves, the assessor may ask to speak to that person directly so that we can be as sure as possible that we have all the relevant information.
The Triage Assessor will explain what services we have available through DHI and about the other agencies we work with that may be able to offer support. The Assessor and the new service user will decide which service is most suitable for them to be referred to, and the Assessor will offer a date for a full ( comprehensive) assessment by either the Drug or Alcohol team
