DHI’s Structured Group Work provides intensive support to individuals through harm minimisation and abstinence-based group programmes. They are aimed at clients who are motivated to change and in need of support. The programme includes the following groups:
Induction Holding Group
This group offers clients an introduction to group work while they are waiting to be assessed. Clients are also able to attend these groups in order to receive additional support or as means of creating more structure in their lives.
A Chance to Change
The Chance to Change programme provides clients with a chance to reflect on their substance use, gain self-knowledge and prepare for action. It is run for those with drug or alcohol related issues who are willing to explore their drug use in a group setting. It is expected that those completing the twelve weeks would leave with a Personal Change Plan.
Positive Changes
This programme if aimed at those ready and willing to change and will give them opportunity to develop and manage their own Personal Change Plan. Work will include goal planning, separating thoughts from feelings and problem solving.
Abstinence Group
This group is for those people committed to achieving abstinence. Work will include many of the same objectives as the Positive Change programme, but with a stronger focus on abstinence, relapse prevention and supporting social rehabilitation
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Programme
This programme consists of a series of three week groups focused on topics such as Anxiety, Self Esteem, Emotional management and Assertiveness.
Women’s Group
A group run for women substance users engaged in treatment or supported housing schemes.
